Getting into RVs: Taking the deep dive

As engineers, we love to investigate things and make a lot of spreadsheets.  And let me tell you, there are a whole lot of details when you want to get into RVing.

We first had to consider what we wanted to do in an RV.  We decided that we wanted to take a few cross-country trips, at least one trip into Canada, and maybe (not sure even today) Alaska.  We figured that we'd spend a good portion of November and December each year in Orlando near our family, and would travel another 3-4 months before ending up in North Carolina for a lot of Spring, almost all of summer, and the beginning of Fall.  During the NC time, we will be making a lot of 1-2 week trips to places along the east coast.  We should get a lot of "RV time" and still be able to enjoy those beautiful mountains!

But knowing where we were going and how we were going to do it was just the beginning.  We then had to figure out what kind of RV we were going to get.  And so began the next 15 months of our lives.

In the next few posts, I'm going to talk about some of the major questions everyone asks themselves about getting a RV and the answers we came up with that fit our situation.  Let the fun begin!
