A little bit about us

My name is Mike Griffin, and I've been a software engineer since the early 80's.  Mrs. G and I have worked at the same company for about 25 years.  We hope to meet a lot of people as we travel, but she isn't much for having her picture plastered all over the Internet.  Because of that, it'll be a bit of a challenge to post some of our photos.  We're likely to take a page from the old television show "Home Improvement".  Remember Mr. Wilson?

Between us, we have five kids ranging in age from 18 to their 30's.  Most of them still live in Orlando.  When we began seriously talking about traveling around the country and spending a lot of time in North Carolina, it bothered us that we would be away from them and our grandchildren so much.  But we realized that with all of their busy schedules, we aren't able to spend as much time with them as we would all like.  After we retire, we'll be able to spend a lot of quality time with them during holidays and special events, and they will probably enjoy sending the grandkids to summer camp in North Carolina. It should be a lot of fun for us all.

It's going to be a big adjustment for us to leave a large home near downtown Orlando and move into a motorhome most of the year, but we're fortunate in that we have a small home in the mountains where we can keep some things and spend time with my sister and her family.  She lives in the same town.

I've got a lot of writing to do to explain everything we've done so far.  We're getting close to ordering our coach and we just can't wait.
